Gibson / Les Paul Junior / 1959 / Body-only Refin Cherry / Guitar For Sale
A beautifully restored 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior, brought back to life by the talented team at Ivison Guitars - and what a result. With no neck breaks, a super resonant body, and a seriously vibey original finish neck, this is a golden-era Les Paul Junior that delivers all the tone and feel you could ask for, at a fraction of the price of a collector-grade example.
This one's had a body-only refinish, with a veneered top and back. The guitar had had a number of routes to the body that the Ivison team plugged with old growth Honduran Mahogany finishing it with a Mahogany veneer to keep it all looking tidy. The quality of work is superb and the veneer is a very hard hitting thing to spot on first glance! The faded analine dye cherry finish looks great too. The pots and cap have been replaced, as has the pickguard, and it's been fitted with a set of repro tuners. It's also had a refret, meaning it plays beautifully all the way up the neck.
The neck profile is superb - that classic '59 carve with depth, rounded shoulders, and just the right taper. Paired with the light weight and resonant body, it makes for an incredibly lively and responsive Junior that feels alive in your hands. This is a guitar that rings out acoustically and explodes into life when plugged in, with the original P-90 giving all the grit, growl, and clarity a good Junior should have.
If you've been looking for a killer-playing vintage Les Paul Junior with old-growth tonewoods, no breaks and a proper neck - but without the collector markup - this is the one. A golden-era Gibson for a great price! Comes in its '60s orange lined Gibson case.
