Gibson / Les Paul Junior + Matching LP Jnr Amp / 1954 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
This is a nice, in fact a gorgeous package - A first year, 1954 Les Paul Junior in superb condition, playable as well and complete with it’s matching Les Paul Junior amplifier and original soft shell case. We do not see these in this fine condition very often and as complete as this package is.
We bought this recently from an International, well respected dealer who claimed he bought it from the original owner who told him the amp, plus the guitar, have been together since he purchased them brand new, in the Fall of 1954. Sixty four years ago..!
Considering it’s age it is in quite exceptional condition and largely unfaded with that lovely shade of brown in the sunburst that you get on the first couple of years of issue of the LPJ’s. Fingerboard is a beautiful, dark rosewood like you get on the finest Les Paul Standards of that era and the inlays are from the same type of pearloid that they used on the 1954 Les Paul Customs. There is zero evidence that these have been changed out and we are pretty sure it came from the factory like this.
Action on this, unlike most is playable. It is not super low so may not be the best out there for super fast shredding but for blues, rock etc it is fine and I think most people will get on fine with it. Studs are fine too and there is no lean on them. Weight is a nice 3.37Kg.
Original frets have very little wear and we have been told the original owner played it for about a year before progressing on to a Telecaster which he continued to play for most of his career. He never sold this, his first guitar/amp package and kept it like it is now, until very recently when we prised this off the dealer who prised it off him.
Pictures of the amp will follow soon, it is in good condition but it is at the moment with our amp tech having a service.
All original or correct hardware and electronics on this wonderful guitar. All solder intact and a mighty fine sounding original vintage P-90 fitted, with the emphasis on Mighty..
Have a look at the photos and see for yourself the very fine condition this superb guitar has been kept in. There are no breaks or repairs and no touch ups anywhere and as you can see by the pics in the gallery, just a few small dings here and there.
Case is in good condition but does have tape around some of the edges. At least the handle is not broken and all clasps work OK.
A really great package and one that does not crop up very often, especially in this fine condition…
