This IS a very cool guitar… This is a Spectacular flamed Gibson Les Paul R9 re-issue from 2003 with confirmed Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with it's original hard shell case and all the documentation you see pictured.
It is in totally superb condition and is a stunning looking guitar too. According to the previous owner, this spectacular top meant the guitar retailed for £6,500 in 2003 as opposed to the usual retail price of £4,700 for a normal flame top R9.
It is 100% original in every way but the issue is it has had a headstock crack repair. Yes, I know what a shame… however the repair work is amongst the best I have ever seen and you have to look really hard to see it - the last few photos show this but even so, you still struggle to see it.
During the time this was repaired on insurance the COA was lost so it also does not come with a COA, just the case candy you see pictured. Hence is priced at approx 50% of what yu would expect a 2003 R9 with Brizillian board and such an amazing top as this to fetch.
As you can see from the pictures it is stunning condition, there are just a few small dings here and there plus some wear on the edges and a bit of tarnishing but nothing too serious. Original case is also in excellent condition. Guitar is really well set up with a chunky profile 59 neck, hardly any fret wear on the original frets and pickups are original Burst Buckers.
Serial number is 9 3168 which if you look up, is well within the range of the Braz board R9’s produced for that one, magic year. Weight is 4.2Kg
