Gretsch / Super Chet 7690 / 1979 / Amber Red / Guitar For Sale
Stunning 1979 Gretsch Super Chet 7690 in vibrant Autumn red in excellent condition throughout. This is Gretsch's late-'70s flagship hollowbody electric designed in collaboration with legendary guitarist Chet Atkins and built to impress both sonically and visually. It's a model that blends ornate high-end appointments with player-focused design, and this one is a superb, clean, and original example.
The Super Chet sits apart from the better-known Country Gentleman and Nashville models, offering a fully hollow, single cutaway body with a carved arch top, finished in beautifully rich transparent red over maple laminate with ornate multi-ply binding throughout. The mahogany neck features a bound ebony fingerboard with stunning abalone fleur-de-lis style inlays. The headstock is bound and inlaid with the Gretsch "T-roof" logo and a large elaborate abalone motif, and the high end appointments continue throughout with 24-carat gold-plated hardware, gold Schaller tuners and an Abalone inlaid ebony block tailpiece.
Electronics consist of two Gretsch 'black-top' Filer'Tron pickups designed for smooth, articulate clarity with plenty of bite and warmth. A complex control layout includes individual pickup volume and tone controls mounted to the pickguard, a master volume and a 3-way pickup selector, giving you a wide palette of tonal possiblities. From mellow jazz warmth to snappy, percussive country twang or driven rockabily grit, this thing delivers.
This particular example is in remarkably clean condition, showing only light signs of use. An excellent high-end Gretsch.
