An exceptional example from one of the most highly respected boutique amp builders around, this Lazy J J-40 from 2021 delivers stunning vintage-inspired tone, lots of headroom and the meticulous build quality that Jesse Hoff has become known for. It includes the optional reverb and termolo modules and footswitch.
The J-40 is the perfect mix of the J-20 and J-80 - a 40 watt amp that blends the J-20's harmonic richness and the punch and warm headroom of the J80 in 2x12 form. It's hand-wired with four inputs, two (High/Low) for the Bright channel, and two for the Normal channel, wiht a separate Volume control for each channel. The channels mix after the Volume controls, and the singal then runs into a single set of tone controls, and the signal then runs into a single set of tone controls... Treble, Mid, Bass, and Presence. There are several switchable options to help achieve terrific tonal and dynamic felxibility. The J40 can be big and clean, reminiscent of the Blackface era, or it can be thick and warm like the best of the Tweeds...
This is a 2x12 model with one Celestion Alnico G-12 and one Celestion A Type housed in a finger-jointed, tweed covered, solid pine cab. It looks every bit as good as it sounds, the condition is excellent throughout having spent most of it's time in the included flight case. A superb example!
