Epiphone / Newport Bass / 1965 / Bass For Sale
This Epiphone Newport was built in 1965 at the legendary Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Modelled after the Gibson EB-0, the Newport features a 30” short scale and a single Sidewinder humbucker pickup in the neck position. Thanks to the short scale, light weight (just 3.1 kg!) and low action, this bass plays beautifully. The sound is full, warm and rich in sustain.
It remains in remarkably clean and original condition. The finish has aged beautifully into a deep reddish-brown hue, with natural checking giving it a lovely vintage patina. Only the control knobs have been replaced (the original pots are still intact).
It comes in a sturdy, non-original hard case (note: one of the latches is no longer functioning properly).
