Gibson / ES125 / 1960 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
Beautiful and fully original early 1960 Gibson ES-125. This guitar still carries full 1959 specifications, including the substantial ’50s neck profile and the original Top Hat knobs.
With a list price of $159.50 back in the day, the ES-125 was Gibson’s entry-level model. The body is laminated maple, paired with a solid mahogany neck and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard (CITES certificate included).
It sounds fantastic. The single P-90 dogear pickup delivers a very open, warm and woody tone with lots of character.
The guitar has just returned from my luthier, who levelled the frets and set it up with a low action. It plays extremely well and feels surprisingly light, even with .012 flatwound strings.
This Gibson is completely original and remains exactly as it left the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo in 1960. It comes with the original hard case and a photograph of the first owner.
