A 1966 Fender Electric XII in Excellent Plus condition has just arrived.

The Fender Electric XII is one of the most distinctive 12-string electric guitars Fender ever produced. Unlike the brighter, chiming tone commonly associated with Rickenbacker 12-string guitars, the Electric XII offers a fuller and more acoustic-like character, which made it suitable for a wide variety of recordings.

This model has been used on many classic recordings. It is often associated with the 12-string guitar parts heard on Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven.” Jimmy Page later adopted his famous double-neck SG to reproduce both the 12-string and 6-string parts in live performances.

The example offered here is finished in the standard sunburst finish. Cosmetically, it shows light wear consistent with a vintage instrument, but overall remains in Excellent Plus condition.

The frets have been replaced, improving playability and making the instrument easier to play despite the naturally higher tension of a 12-string guitar. Aside from this, the instrument remains completely original with all components intact.

Tonally, the guitar delivers the classic Electric XII sound, with rich harmonic overtones and the characteristic shimmering movement unique to vintage 12-string guitars.
