We are pleased to offer a 1962 Fender Jazz Bass with slab rosewood fingerboard, professionally refinished in Fiesta Red by renowned UK luthier Clive Brown.

This bass features the classic early three-knob control layout used on Jazz Basses prior to the mid-1962 switch to stacked controls.

The instrument originally left the factory in Fiesta Red, but after decades of heavy use the finish had deteriorated significantly. By the time it arrived at the shop the body had already been stripped to natural wood. Fortunately, traces of the original Fiesta Red finish remained in the neck pocket and control cavity, confirming the guitar’s original color.

Based on this evidence, the body was professionally refinished by Clive Brown, a highly respected bass builder and restoration specialist in the UK. The finish has been applied with careful attention to vintage accuracy and includes subtle aging, resulting in a look that closely matches an original early-1960s Fiesta Red finish.

The bass retains its original black-bobbin pickups. The electronics include one potentiometer dated 1962, while the remaining two pots date to 1974.

Tonally, the instrument delivers the warm, articulate sound associated with early slab-board Jazz Basses, with strong fundamental response and clear harmonic detail.

While original custom-color slab-era Jazz Basses are extremely rare and command very high prices, this example offers the opportunity to experience the character of a 1962 Fiesta Red Jazz Bass at a far more accessible level, thanks to the professional restoration.
