We are pleased to offer a 1965 Fender Jazz Bass finished in its original Lake Placid Blue custom color, paired with the classic unbound dot-marker neck.
Custom color Fender instruments from the mid-1960s were produced in relatively small numbers, and Lake Placid Blue remains one of the most desirable finishes from the period.
This example shows natural weather checking and light playwear consistent with its age, but overall remains in excellent vintage condition.
The neck features a beautiful, dark Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with strong grain and is straight. The frets and nut have been replaced, ensuring excellent playability.
Aside from the pickup cover (“ashtray”), which is missing, the instrument appears to retain its original components.
Tonally, this bass delivers a fantastic vintage Jazz Bass character. It combines the warm, thick midrange associated with early-1960s instruments with the clear high-frequency response typical of mid-1960s Fender basses, making it a superb player as well as a collectible example.
