Fender / Telecaster / 1968 / Blonde / Guitar

Those of you who follow us regularly and Facebook alone, there are over 23,000 of you, will know we do like a bit of a rarity here at Toyshop Towers and this one is actually no exception.

It's not that I am saying 1968 maple cap, blonde Fender Tele's are rare - no, what is rare is to have one arrive here that is 100% original in every way. Exactly as it left Fullerton in late '68.

Pretty much 90% of the late 60's Tele's we get have had something done to them, be it an added string tree, a refret, a replaced guard, rewound pickup or changed wiring but this one has survived all of it's soon to be, half century life, completely unmolested. That in itself is pretty rare and pretty nice...

A real cool player with a stunningly good weight of just 3.3Kg this Tele, like the best of them, is a very resonant instrument acoustically and has a good, low action that will not disappoint the savviest of players.

It is not a museum piece, neither has it been abused, it has good honest play wear with the inevitable dings and nicks here and there. The blonde finish has faded to a real cool yellow hue except for where the pickguard, control plate etc has covered it up.

All hardware is original, including the pearled back pickguard that has a small piece broken off one of the tips. Both pickups are fully original and work great, both pots date to 1966 as to be expected and not one solder joint has been disturbed. And it's not often you can say that about a late 60's Tele.

To complete this very nice package is the original hard case with a slightly broken logo and the original bridge ashtray cover.
