Gibson / ES-335 TD / 1960 / Sunburst / Guitar

Near MINT, one owner, un circulated, early - mid 1960 Gibson ES-335 TD with tons of original case candy, original strap, pick collection, original owners sock (not verified), old strings, original hang tags, instruction sheets and even the original price tag of $519 plus original Lifton brown case - phew!

It's not very often we come across an example as complete and in such excellent condition as this one is.

This is an early - mid build, 1960 ES-335 with all the late 1959 appointments including long guard, bonnet knobs, amber switch tip, plastic strap buttons and transitional neck. In fact if this is identical in every way to a late 1959 ES-335 TD bar the serial number.

It has hardly been played at all yet for some reason it has had a re-fret with frets that are pretty close to the original size. Not sure why, but this is not the first time I have seen this on a near mint 1959/60. May possibly be the result of an over zealous local guitar store trying to extract some money from an unsuspecting owner...? Wouldn't be the first time. The nut however has not been disturbed and is totally original.

The other issue is, like so many of this period, the tuner tips have crumbled from the ravages of Klusonitus and have been replaced with some decent repros. The tuners themselves have not been changed and are original single line Klusons.

Condition wise it is near MINT. There are one or two dings in places, mainly one on the back (see picture) and a couple of smaller ones on the headstock. There is also some of the usual tarnishing on the nickel parts, including the pickup covers. Original brown case is also very clean with all fixings working fine, but it does have a small crack on the side by the top most latch.

Finish is still gleaming and vibrant vibrant. Needless to say there are no touch ups, over sprays, repairs, cracks or any other issues with this amazing guitar.

2 x very strong PAF's give this a classic sound that all ES-335 owners expect and crave for. The neck is straight and plays brilliantly well, if you wish to play this, it is set up ready to go.

A rare find in this condition and you can even while away the hours studying the original instructions for the tun-o-matic bridge and the Patent Applied For humbucker set ups as well as giving every vintage pick a good work out!
