Gibson / ES-335 TDC / 1964 / Cherry / Guitar For Sale
Super clean, rare 1964 Gibson ES-335TDC with factory Maestro Vibrola. A particularly rare and compelling example of one of Gibson's most celebrated electric guitars. This one is super clean, all original and investment grade with it's vibrant, richly preserved Cherry finish and rare factory Maestro trem.
The Cherry finish remains remarkably vivid, with seemingly little to-no fade at all! The deep cherry hue is consistent all over and perfectly framed by the nicely aged, creamy binding - a testament to how well this guitar has been cared for over the years.
Its one-piece Mahogany neck has the coveted 1964 medium C profile - more substantial than earlier slim tapers and oh-so comfortable - paired wiht an attractive dark Rosewood fingerboard punctuated with small block inlays. The neck is straight and true, and the original frets and nut are in excellent condition.
Under the hood, the guitar retains its origninal Patent Number humbuckers, prized for their clarity, warmth, and dynamic sensitivity and are the same as short magnet PAF's in all but sticker. The tone is punchy, rich, and incredibly expressive. The loom is intact with no signs of solder work or disturbed joints. The factory Maestro Vibrola is a rarer option versus the more commonplace Bigsby B7 used in this period - Maestro's having a slightly different feel that lends itself perfectly to shimmers on chords and more subtle pitch changes. The nickel plated Lyre tailpiece also looks the part, and overall the guitar maintains excellent tuning stability.
An equally clean original hard shell case completes what is a compelling, collector grade package and a standout piece of Gibson history.
