Gibson / Les Paul Custom / 1969 / Black / Guitar

This is a STUNNING original early 1969 Gibson Les Paul Custom + OHSC It has all the desirable 1969 features such as a TRANSITIONAL NECK TENON, one piece body, nice dish top, no volute, no ‘made in USA’ and has been owned by the same original owner since he bought it new, in a music shop in Chicago in 1969!

It also has 2x superb PAT number stickered PAF pickups and guitar is 100% original apart from a brief period of time when it had different tuners, original waffle backs are on now and there are no extra holes but if you look closely you can see a feint outline of a larger washer on the face of the headstock. He also fitted a MIDI pickup which left 2 small screw holes that hae been expertly filled and are bearly noticible (see pictures).

Apart from that, 100% original, virgin undisturbed solder and even has the original frets that are still in great shape and very playable. Original oblong hard case is included with the original owners name taped on plus some case candy - manual, strings etc. The handle of the case broke so original owner fitted a home made replacement.

Guitar is actually in lovely original condition with great paint work. The only real signs of wear are on the bridge pickup cover and tailpiece studs plus the usual, but not too serious, dings and dongs here and there.

All the pots that I can read are dated 29th week of 1969 and serial number is 884474. Undisturbed solder joints and Sprague Black Beauty caps complete the control cavity.

Frets are superb, low profile and very playable. I have no idea why so many people destroyed the feel of these guitars by installing extra large frets, there is nothing wrong with these at all!. Neck is medium C shape and weight is a very good 4.0Kg

VERY RARE to see an early 69 like this for sale with just the one owner. It is also in excellent shape and at a very reasonable price too. This is a great guitar and Gibson did a lot of things right on this early ’69 Les Paul!
