Superb Gibson Les Paul Custom made in 1969 and part of the 'middle series' with transitional tenon, one piece body and quite possibly a one piece neck that has a couple of issues keeping it keenly priced...
The two issues are firstly a well repaired headstock crack that has been stable for the last 20 years and it once had other tuners fitted. The crack repair is very well done, it obviously did not go all the way through and has been lightly touched up in that area. You cannot feel it and you struggle to see it sometimes too.
Not sure what the other tuners were but they have left some washer rings on the headstock face and the area at the back has been touched up where the old screw holes were.
Original hardware, original pickups which are the PAT number sticker pickups. All the pots that I can read date to 34th week of 1969. Case is more than likely original to this guitar which although left the factory in 1969, was probably finally sold in 1970.
Serial number is 844502 and it even still has the fretless wonder, original frets that are, in my opinion, very nice to play with a good low action. Body is all original finish, original knobs, plastic etc. Weight is 4.55Kg and neck is medium profile.
Last early 1969 LP Custom I sold went for £13k so at £5995 this is a pretty good deal and a real nice guitar.
