Marshall / JMP 2203 Mk II 100W Lead Head / 1978 / Amp For Sale

A true icon of late '70s British rock tone, this 1978 Marshall JMP 2203 Mk II 100W Lead Head delivers everything you'd expect from a master volume-era Marshall: raw, agressive crunch, unmistakable punch, and searing lead tones with endless sustain.

The 2203 circuit - introduced just a few years prior - marked a pivotal shift for Marshall, offering players more gain on tap thanks to its now-legendary master volume design. This amp pumps out 100 watts of vintage Mullard EL34-powered tone, and does so with ferocity and finesse. Whether you're chasing the biting midrange of classic hard rock, the muscular roar of punk, or the molten lead tones that defined early metal, this head has it all on command.

This particular example is from 1978, making it one of the more sought-after vertical input models. Internally eveything is present and correct, complete with an original set of Mullard EL-34's, its original transformers and key components that work together delivering that unmistakable JMP character: bold, harmonically rich, and extremely touch-responsive.

Cosmetically, this one has no doubt done its fair share of gigs over the years with knocks and tearing to the Tolex as the photos display.

Whether you're a player looking for that unmistakable vintage Marshall roar or a collector searching for a clean and original example from this golden era, this 2203 is the real deal. Plug in, crank it up, and you'll understand why this amp became the foundation of countless legendary tones.
