Here we have a 1949 Epiphone Emperor Cutaway from a collection, complete with its original brown case. Based on the online Epiphone serial number database, the earliest listed serial number is 59092, and this guitar is serial #59079, which makes it the earliest known production date according to that reference.
Condition / work noted:
• Refinish done years ago (described as looking excellent)
• Replaced pickguard bracket
• After close inspection under blacklight, it appears to have had a neck reset
• Otherwise, everything presents very well on visual and close inspection
Tone (as described):
Phenomenal, with a big projecting voice. These guitars were built to cut through in the big band era, and this one is described as doing exactly that.
