Epiphone / Emperor / 1940 / Sunburst / Guitar
This is a lovely 1940 Epiphone Emperor Archtop Acoustic guitar, serial# 15730, in sunburst. Another early Epi Gibby treat from Guitars West. Our Emperor has tiger flamed Maple back & sides. The top is handcarved Spruce. The guitar has a 7-piece Maple/Walnut neck. The 7-ply ivoroid body binding has seen better days. We still wouldn't kick it out of bed for eating crackers. The heel cap, neck binding, f-holes and headstock are all triple-bound. The fingerboard is solid Brazilian Rosewood with split-block Mother of Pearl inlays. The headstock is adorned with Epi's infamous 'Tree of Life' inlay in pearl, and a pearl triangle inlay where you would find a trussrod cover. The guitar is missing its pickguard, and has discoloration where a pickup may have gone. It's hard to say. The saddle has been replaced, as have the tuners. She is old and looks to have been played and loved equally (a lot!). Not yet a beat boy, just needs a loving, tender home. The guitar come with a hardshell case.
