Gibson / Explorer III / 1985 / Black / Guitar

From a large collection out of Chicago, we are pleased to offer this gorgeous 1985 Gibson Explorer III, serial# 80315543, in black. One of my Fave Guitars...!!! Its one and only owner played and loved it, but took incredible care of all of their pieces. Only in production for one year, the Explorer III differed from other Explorers in a few ways. For one, it used an Alder body instead of Mahogany. Additionally, the Explorer III wielded three P-90 pickups instead of humbuckers and lacked a pickgaurd. Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard. The body has been refinished, but the neck/headstock are original. The tone pot has been changed (same style/CTS pot replacement). The guitar weighs 8lbs 2oz, with a nut width of 1 5/8" and 10" fretboard radius.

Guitars West was established in 1984 in Southern California. Known in the industry as purveyors of vintage instruments, we’re a family owned and operated business that takes pride in genuine customer service.

We buy, sell, and trade vintage musical instruments, specializing in stringed instruments and amplification from the early 1900s and onward. Have something you think we might be interested in? Bring it by the shop. If it’s a fit, we’ll give you an honest opinion and estimate, and we’ll work out a deal.

Be sure to add a bottle of our B & H Guitar Polish to your cart, so you can put the “BH” on it too.

Also, check out our Bell and Hern Custom Guitars. We build these affordable custom pieces in-house. Choose from one of our iconic designs, or special order your own custom design.
