Fender / Jazz Bass Fretless / 1970 / Lake Placid Blue / Bass For Sale
1970 Fender Jazz Bass – Factory Fretless, Lake Placid Blue with Black-Bound Neck
Now in stock.
We are pleased to offer an extremely rare 1970 Fender Jazz Bass in original Lake Placid Blue, built as a factory fretless instrument and featuring a black-bound maple cap fingerboard.
This unusual configuration is believed to have been produced in very small numbers, likely as special-order instruments or possibly for dealer presentation or promotional purposes. Examples such as this have occasionally appeared in vintage reference books but are rarely seen in person.
The bass features a maple cap fretless fingerboard with black binding, a striking look that sets it apart from standard Jazz Bass models of the period.
Factory fretless Fender basses from this era are extremely uncommon. While fretless versions became officially cataloged later in the 1970s and early 1980s, only a handful of earlier custom or special-order examples are known to exist.
This instrument shows some honest playwear consistent with age, but overall remains in excellent vintage condition.
The bass appears to be original with no altered parts.
Sonically, it delivers the expressive, singing character that makes fretless Jazz Basses so distinctive, with smooth sustain and rich harmonic detail.
Instruments like this are rarely encountered on the market, making it an exceptional opportunity for collectors and players alike.
