A 1960 Fender Telecaster “Slab Fingerboard Neck” has just arrived.

This is a Telecaster with the highly sought-after slab fingerboard neck specification. Alongside the Blackguard Telecaster, this era is often regarded as one of the masterpieces of vintage Fender. These guitars have been loved by countless players, including Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Steve Cropper, and more recently Robben Ford.

While there is some minor wear as you’d expect on a vintage instrument, buckle wear is minimal, and considering its age, the guitar is in excellent-plus condition.

The only change noted is that a capacitor related to a “wolf tone” mod on the original neck pickup has been removed, and the guitar has been rewired for current operation. Otherwise, all parts are original. The tone is excellent, with the well-balanced highs and lows that this slab-board Telecaster era is known for.

Telecaster production is said to have decreased significantly from around 1960 to 1965, likely due to new models introduced from late 1959 to early 1960, which shifted production focus away from existing models. This is the first slab-era Telecaster we’ve had in stock in a long time.
