A 1963/64 Fender Stratocaster “Candy Apple Red Finish” has just arrived.

This Stratocaster is in the custom color Candy Apple Red. Fender officially offered custom colors as an option from around 1960, and many were developed using DuPont automotive paint. In 1963, Candy Apple Red was introduced as an original Fender color.

This instrument has a neck dated December 1963, and the pots and pickups are dated 1964. Because of the date differences, and after checking other parts, we have determined that this guitar is a 1964 Candy Apple Red body combined with a 1963 neck.

Although it is a player-grade vintage instrument, the main parts are largely original, and the sound is described as fully in line with an original vintage Strat. Considering its age, the exterior is in good condition with minimal buckle wear. It features the vibrant Candy Apple Red finish used from 1963 into the first half of 1965, with the characteristic silver metallic base coat. The neck has a slightly thicker round-laminated rosewood fingerboard than later models, producing a well-balanced tone with strong lows and highs typical of the early 1960s.

Aside from the points noted above, the main parts are original, with only a few screws replaced. In recent years, due to rising prices and the limited production numbers of small-head custom color guitars, instruments like this have become extremely difficult to find. While it is a player-grade vintage guitar, it is a rare opportunity.
