Deimel Guitars / The Firestar / Jazzmaster Jaguar Non Reverse Firebird Crossover Offset Interpretation

 

We sat down with German luthier Frank Deimel from Deimel Guitars to have a chat around a few of the guitars brought to Holy Grail Guitar Show 2016.

On this clip Frank shows us 2 variations of their Firestar model. The Firestar model is a crossover between a Jazzmaster, Jaguar and Non reverse Firebird and is their interpretation of a new offset style guitar.

Deimel Firestar Thomas Andersson Grøn Koncert 2016

Last year we did a custom order project with guitar player extraordinare, Thomas Andersson.

Thomas wanted something very unique with an offset twist. Therefore we put him in contact with german builders, Deimel Guitars.

Thomas ended up with a very cool – black sparkle 2 pickup Firestar.

Dubré Guitars JMT Custom Thomas Andersson Grøn Koncert 2016

Guitar player extraordinaire, Thomas Andersson, contacted us before his summer tour 2016 with an interesting custom guitar project for this specific tour.

We met up with luthier Pierre Dubré aka Dubré Guitars and came up with a JM design based on Telecaster hardware specs with bindings. We named this specific guitar JMT Custom.

Rocco DeLuca / Through Fire / Vintage & RareTv / Daniel Lanois house

In January 2014 we had the pleasure of shooting 2 performances with Rocco DeLuca at the house/studio of Daniel Lanois in Los Angeles, exclusively for VintageandRare.com

On the first video Rocco is performing his song “Through Fire”. On the 2nd video Rocco performs “Congregate”. Both songs are from Rocco´s forthcoming album.
Both performances was done on a very unique baritone lap steel (Rocco Deluca prototype) built by CA based masterluthier and V&R partner, Pavel Maslowiec aka Pavel Guitars.

On Frankfurt Messe 2013 we had the pleasure of meeting Rob Bluebird from Bluebird Guitars.

On this video Rob shows V&R his amazingly beautiful T-style Resonater guitar – The Bluesette. Handcarved in aluminium.

Deimel Guitarworks Interview with Frank Deimel from Deimel Guitarsworks

Frank Deimel opened his guitar/bass-workshop in 1998 in Berlin. Some of his clients are Sonic Youth, Tocotronic, Nikki Sudden etc. We had a little chat with him about his work as a luthier.

Hi Frank, thank you for taking your time to speak to us. Could you tell us a little bit about how and when did you start your company? Where are you located?
I started my guitar-building company in Berlin during my study at the UdK Berlin, while I took the Industrial Design courses. I developed several designs of my guitars during that time, and besides that I got to known Berlin as a divided place. In 1998 I officially started the business, which is based in former west, called “red island”, it`s a place somewhere between Potsdamer Platz and Tempelhof.
