A 1963 Fender Deluxe Reverb “First Issue / Pre-CBS” has just arrived.
This is a very early 1963 Deluxe Reverb. The label under the model name on the control panel still reads “FENDER ELECT.INST.”, indicating a pre-CBS era unit. Due to the circuit and components used during this period, it is described as having a thicker, more saturated sound compared to later vintage Deluxe Reverbs, making it a highly sought-after model.
The Deluxe Reverb is widely regarded as one of the best-sounding vintage amplifiers, and it’s especially popular with vintage guitar players because it brings out the character of the instrument so well.
Cosmetically, the exterior is described as being in excellent condition overall, with only minor scratches consistent with vintage gear.
The amp has undergone practical maintenance, including capacitor replacement, so it’s ready for immediate use. The reverb unit and reverb transformer, which are prone to damage, have been replaced.
The sound is described as the distinctive tone of the early circuit, and this is presented as an extremely rare, very early 1963 Deluxe Reverb.
